What you get

One row per parcel, one column per thing the county records about it. Open it in QGIS or ArcGIS, load it into Postgres or DuckDB, or take the CSV into a spreadsheet.

Parcel number APN · PIN · PARCEL_ID
The county's own ID for the lot. It is how the assessor, the tax roll and the deed records all refer to the same piece of ground.
Owner OWNER · TAXPAYER
The name on the tax roll, and usually a mailing address, which is often somewhere else entirely.
Situs address SITUS · PROP_ADDR
The street address of the property itself. Vacant land frequently has none.
Size ACRES · SHAPE_AREA
Acreage or square footage, plus the boundary shape itself — the polygon you can draw on a map or overlay on anything else.
Legal description LEGAL · SUBDIV · LOT · BLOCK
Subdivision, lot and block, or the survey and abstract the parcel was cut from.
Assessed value LAND_VAL · IMP_VAL · TOTAL_VAL
What the county values the land at, what it values the buildings at, and the total the tax is figured on.
Last sale SALE_DATE · SALE_PRICE
When the parcel last changed hands and, in the counties that record it, for how much.
Use and zoning LAND_USE · ZONING
Residential, commercial, agricultural, exempt — the county's own classification, in the county's own codes.

No two counties name their columns the same way, and not every county records every one of these. Each county page lists that county's own fields, with how full each column is, so you can check before you download.

Questions it answers

  • Who owns this lot? Owner name and mailing address, straight off the tax roll.
  • How big is it, exactly? The boundary polygon plus the county's own acreage figure.
  • What is it worth on the roll? Land and improvement values as the assessor set them.
  • When did it last sell? Sale date, and the price where the county records it.
  • What can be built on it? The county's land-use and zoning codes for the parcel.

    Parcel data is point-in-time, so counties are published as dated snapshots. Choose the date you need and the format your software reads.
